Bio
Jeanette Sperone is an artist based in the New York City area. She was born in NJ and continues to reside in the subtly seething heart of the suburbs. Jeanette earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montclair State University in 2005 and received the prize in painting. She has since participated in a number of in person and virtual shows.
Statement
A painter and collage artist, through her work Sperone pursues an exploration of dichotomies of outward appearance and felt experience. Using fragments of personal memory and collected ephemera, sources from interiors magazines, advertising, social media and women's publications, she builds on the legacies of Dutch masters, 19th and 20th century painters, and assemblage artists. She captures and evokes both moments lived and moments observed, digesting them into meta experiences.
